Is a RAP for you?

A great RAP includes actions that are unique to your business or service. Look at your organistaion's strengths, location and sphere of influence and explore new possibilities.

That’s what makes the collective impact of RAPs so exciting.

While RAPs involve tailoring recruitment and retention programs to match the aspirations and needs of Indigenous jobseekers, they're also about changing workplace cultures and educating non-Indigenous people so that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff feel welcome, supported and respected.

The framework for RAPs is based on three key areas:

o   Relationships

o   Respect

o   Opportunities

The first step in creating a RAP is based on developing strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders; such as employees, businesses and community organisations and leaders. Building relationships that are based on respect leads to opportunities for both for the organisation and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Most employees want the opportunity to play a meaningful role through their workplace to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Reconciliation Australia invites all organisations interested in developing a RAP to work collaboratively with us to ensure their RAP meets specific criteria for registration on the Reconciliation Australia website
