Whether you are a student, teacher or interested individual; this section can help you learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Reconciliation Australia's cultural awareness website Share Our Pride is a perfect start to learning about the histories and cultures of our First Peoples.

Reconciliation Australia books

Reconciliation Australia has partnered with educational publishing house Macmillan Education on a series of books aimed at educating primary school students about the reconciliation journey.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week is held from 27 May to 3 June each year. It is a time to celebrate and build on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians.

Apology to the Stolen Generations

Reconciliation Australia has coordinated some online resources to assist you in understanding and commemorating the anniversary of the apology to the Stolen Generations.

1967 Referendum

In 1967, after ten years of campaigning, a referendum was held to change the Australian Constitution. The referendum saw more then 90 percent of eligible Australians vote YES to count Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in the national census of the population and to give the Commonwealth Government power to make specific laws for Indigenous people. 2020 Summit

On 19 and 20 April 2008 the Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd convened an Australia 2020 Summit at Parliament House to help shape a long-term strategy for the nation’s future. View infornation about the 2020 Summit.
